GERENSSA is proud to announce its successful bid for the consultancy on the "2026 Market Evaluation," propelled by the World Food Programme (WFP) of the United Nations in Bolivia. This study aims to diagnose the functionality, stability, and resilience of local commercial systems through the application of the Market Functionality Index (MFI) methodology, providing key technical evidence to determine the feasibility of implementing assistance programs through Cash-Based Transfers (CBT) in response to contingencies and climate risks.
To meet the outlined objectives, our field teams commenced territorial deployment on September 24, with data collection operations extending into early October. The work is being conducted simultaneously across nine municipalities selected for their relevance and vulnerability: Oruro and Challapata in the Oruro department; Cobija and El Sena in Pando; Riberalta in Beni; and San Ramón, Ascensión de Guarayos, San Julián, and San Miguel de Velasco in the Santa Cruz department.
The information gathering employs a rigorous quantitative and qualitative approach. Teams will conduct surveys of businesses of various scales (small, medium, and large) and structural market questionnaires using digital platforms, recording data on availability, prices, supply chains, and infrastructure. In addition, semi-structured interviews will be held with municipal authorities, productive development technicians, and trade union leaders to ensure transparent and fluid engagement with local stakeholders.
Through the execution of this project, GERENSSA reaffirms its institutional commitment of over 20 years to generating high-quality technical inputs that enhance decision-making in food security, risk management, and rural development in Bolivia. We extend our gratitude to the World Food Programme for their trust, as well as to the municipal autonomous governments and trade organizations for their valuable openness and collaboration during this important field phase.
